If you like sweet and sour, this is it! Crispy cake edges with baked apple on top, oh so good! 

– 1 stick melted butter (1/2 cup)
– 1-1/2 cup of flour
– 2 tsp baking powder
– 3 eggs
– 1/3 cup + 1TBSP sugar
– 1 tsp vanilla 
– 2 TBSP lemon juice to marinate apples in
– 3 to 4 green apples 
– 1 TBSP cinnamon (optional)

Crumble (kruszonka) – optional 
– 150 g flour
– 100g sugar
– 100 g butter (semi-cold)

Prepare topping (optional): into the bowl place flour, sugar and butter. Mix with fingers until small crumbles form. Place in fridge until ready to use.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking pan/sheet with parchment paper.

Melt the butter, put to side to cool off

Prepare apples by roughly chopping them in small pieces (no need to peel!). Pour lemon juice to let apples marinate. 

Prepare flour by sifting flour and baking powder

In a mixer with paddle attachment mix eggs and sugar until fluffy and white pale.
Partially add flour mixture and vanilla extract. Mix only until combined.
Add melted butter. Mix only until combined.
Pour the batter into the lined baking sheet (it will be a thin layer)
Sprinkle cinnamon on top (optional)
Place apples on top and sprinkle with sugar or crumble

Bake for about 40-50 min until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean

Cool off on the wire rack 

*If stored in fridge, then take it out at least 20 min prior or warm the slice up in the oven
